Feeling better and smiles

Tristan is almost completely over his RSV. He rarely coughs and he acts like he feels much better. He is still a little congested so we still have to do some suctioning which he hates! He was really smiling at me today so I tried to catch it on my camera. I got a few glimpses. Unfortunately I was using my iphone and it has a delay so I didn't quite catch them but here are a few pictures. It is so cute when he does it. His gums show and he has two big dimples. He is so expressive! Last night in his bath tub he squealed in delight and started splashing his legs. He made quite a mess!

Visitors...

Tristan's great-great Aunt Faye (m grandmothers sister) came to visit Tristan for this first time. She loved him!

Here are some pictures of Tristan playing. He is getting so big! He gets more and more expressive every day.

Good friends

Since Tristan is feeling so much better I had dinner with a few of my good friends. Pam was one of my teachers in ultrasound school. This was the first time she met Tristan and she loved him (of course =)) Oh and no that is not my margarita... although I wish that it was! ha
Pam is about to have a grandson too so she was practicing on Tristan =P

This is Wendy. She is one of my best friends. She was my classmate in college. We spent many many hours together! We had weekly swim/margarita parties to study =P.

ok now I am tired...

I just spent 4 hours in the kitchen!! I know, I am crazy. For a baby gift my mother-in-law made a bunch of meals for us to have in our deep freeze so we could just pop them in whenever we needed them. We loved always having delicious meals to eat with no prep work. Now that it has been two months we are almost out of meals. I decided since I am going back to work next week I will definitely not have time to cook so I decided to make a bunch of meals to put in the freezer myself. Whew.. that was hard work!! I gave Tristan to Shannon and worked for hours. Shannon gave Tristan a bath, gave him a pumped bottle, a breathing treatment and put him to bed. In the meantime, I made 12 meals! They are big so we can eat them for several days. Now that I am finished I have decided my mother-in-law is just going to have to come up and do that from now on! ha ha. Tristan is feeling so much better. We have dropped down to just two breathing treatments a day and he is able to breath so much better! My goal for this week is to get him on some sort of routine so it will be easier to go back to work next week. I also want to get him to sleep in his crib. He is in there sleeping right now so maybe we are on the right track! I decided to buy a video monitor though because I was going in there every 30 minutes to look at him!

Love my bath!!

Tristan loves taking a bath now! We took the newborn sling out so he can actually sit in the water and he loves to kick his legs and splash the water. He kept lifting one of his legs up real high and then splashing it down. Here are some pictures..

look at the rolls he is getting on his legs!!

Funny faces!

He loves to stare at himself in the mirror...

8 weeks

Tristan is 8 weeks old today! We can't believe how fast the time is going by. He is feeling better every day so hopefully he will be over this RSV soon. He is still giving us smiles they are just not as frequent because he still doesn't feel great I guess. He has been "talking" to us a lot more though and doing some crazy stuff with his hands. When he is mad they hit us in the face and he hits himself in the face too. Of course then he looks at us like we did it. ha ha. He loves sitting in his bouncy seat now and watching the television with us. I bought a Sleep Sheep for his car seat and for his crib and he loves those. The ambient noise works like a charm and puts him to sleep so fast.

We are so lucky and blessed to have him for a son!

This was my attempt at catching a smile... I was a few seconds too late..

Napping on mommy...

look our son is a genius... he can do his own breathing treatments...
Our beautiful boy!

I haven't said anything about Maggie in forever! She is doing well as a big sister. She was really interested in Tristan at first but now she is bored with him I guess and doesn't really pay him much attention. I am sure she will love him when he starts giving her food...

Getting better...

We had to follow up with the pediatrician today and he thought Tristan was looking much better. He is still congested and working a little to breath but not nearly as bad. He wants us to continue doing the breathing treatments every 4-6 hours for a few more days. His ears look good and show no sign of infection so far so that is good. He has been a little perkier today and it is nice to see him act like himself again and give us some smiles. He also has an umbilical hernia that he developed a few weeks ago but the doctor said that should fix itself. We just hate seeing it! Oh well, it is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. He has to go back and see him in a week and a half unless we think he gets worse again.
Shannon and I are both feeling better too. We are hoping Tristan will start sleeping longer at night pretty soon. He did a few nights with 5 hours before he got sick but now he is back to 3-4hours again. Which in breastfeeding world really equals 2-3hours... =/. Next week is my last week of maternity leave. I can't believe it is almost over. It went by way too fast. Shannon is off next week too so we are just going to hang out and spend some time together before it gets crazy. Luckily, Tristan won't have to go to daycare! My mom and Shannon will be taking turns watching him. We are lucky to have such a great support system.

Still sleepy but feeling better...

RSV =(

Tristan turned 7 weeks old this week and unfortunately came down with a bad case of RSV. We took him into the pediatrician on Tuesday and he was really worried about him but decided to let him come home and try breathing treatments with a home nebulizer for the night. (oh and by the way he weighed 10lbs and 9oz at his visit!! Which means he has gained 5lbs in 6 and a half weeks!) Anyways, we brought him back in on Wednesday and he thought that he looked worse. He was really struggling to breath and his chest was really congested. He decided it would be best if we went into the hospital for awhile. They tried 5 times to put an IV in and could never get it but since he was eating good and his electrolytes were ok they decided to give up on the IV. He was so tired the rest of the day and would barely wake up to eat. It was a long night and he needed oxygen a few times but he started feeling better about midnight. This morning his doctor thought he looked and sounded a lot better so we got to leave and continue the home treatments and go back to have a check up tomorrow. Hopefully he will continue to get better and get back to his normal crazy self! Here are a few pictures from our stay...

I don't feel good but I still love my duck and my daddy!

Poor thing...

On Monday night my mom, sister, grandmothers and I went to go see Celine Dion. We had so much fun and it was awesome. She is even better in person.

Gaylord ICE

This weekend my family went to the ICE exhibit at the Gaylord Texan. It was so neat and I can't believe the amazing things they made out of ice! If you ever get a chance to see it you definitely should. Tristan even got to go although he had to wait in the lobby because it is 8 degrees in the ICE exhibit. We thought that might be a little chilly for him.

Tristan was mesmerized by all the lights

They give you these big blue parkas to wear so
everyone ends up looking like overweight smurfs...

Christmas story??
