Contruction Updates

The construction on the new playroom is cruising along well. After a slow start due to a snowy and freezing weekend it is nice to see some faster progress. Shannon and his dad did manage to get two walls built during that freezing weather though which is quite impressive! All the walls are up now, the electrical is almost done, and they will be working on the roof today. I will be excited when it is all enclosed with the roof and windows and doors. The inside of our house is a wreck with sheets covering our stuff and lots of dust everywhere!! Here are some pictures of the progress:

We had a little delay in progress when they took the siding off of the back of the house. Apparently whoever installed it last didn't do a very good job and water was seeping in. There was a lot of rotted wood (this is a main support wall) that the guys had to cut out and replace. It was also scary because evidently the outlet in that wall was sparking and burning the insulation due to a cut wire (from the botched siding install). It was a fire waiting to happen!

Construction Update

This past weekend we poured the slab for our new playroom/sunroom! We had a cement truck come out and mix the cement for us so we wouldn't have to do that part. I should have gotten a picture of the cement truck because it was a huge beast of a vehicle! It was quite a task hauling wheelbarrows of cement back and forth to the patio but it only took about 30 minutes to fill it up. I thought that was all you had to do but apparently you have to "work" it in with lots of patience. I helped with the wheelbarrow part put not so much with the "working" of it as I did not have the appropriate footwear to actually get in the concrete =) darn... They made me in charge of hosing off all the equipment. I feel like we are actually making progress now and I am so excited! This weekend we will begin the framing and Shannon and his dad will be working on it all next week.

I Heart Faces {Bundle Up Challenge}

Let The Construction Begin...

Well, the construction on the new enclosed sunroom/playroom has begun! It has been quite a process planning the room and getting the permits. The permit process was a beating and we had to get reports from structural engineers. It added a lot of expense and grief! The room will be about 16 x 12 feet and will add 186 square feet to our living space! I can't wait to have a place to put all of Tristan's toys too! We framed the foundation out last weekend and they will be coming to pour the concrete on Friday of this week. I will try to take pictures along the way and keep y'all posted on the progress! All I want to know is when can I decorate it???

The structural engineer required us to put three 6 feet piers in under the existing slab. These were quite a task to do. We rented an auger and it took three guys to control that thing. It was a little scary. Here is my father-in-law Harold, my Uncle Robert, and Shannon drilling the holes.

Rainforest Cafe

A few weeks ago we took Tristan to the Rainforest Cafe for lunch. We called my parents and they met us there. As soon as Tristan saw the animals on the wall he got excited and started making silly noises. He loved it there! We got to sit next to a big monkey and he thought that was so much fun. He waved at him every time he started moving. He also loved the aquariums. I see a trip to the zoo and the aquarium in our future! =)

Hello Mr. Turtle...

She was evidently more impressed with the volcano cake than Tristan.

Tristan is such a happy baby but he has been getting all 4 of his canine's in this week and has been very fussy. Normally he is not too bad with teething but these ones have been brutal. Tylenol and teething tablets don't seem to help. Orajel worked a little bit. This has made for one fussy fussy little man! There has been lots of fits and head slamming going on at our house =P. Hopefully he will be back to his normal self soon!
